note: Though different from This Ebenezer's records, there was an Ebenezer Merrit who died in Catskill on Jan 24, 1820, his wife was Cynthia, the will mentions  no children,  This Ebenezer also could have been some relation to William's Ebenezer, need to research
MARY b 1765 in Fredricksburhg, Dutchess NY d. 1845

3rd wife- Elizabeth  Wixon b about 1716 (date on her toomstone makes it  about 1723, which would make her 51 years old at the birth of her daughter Elizabeth,  if Fredrickson's date is correct for Elizabeth's birth she would have been 57 years old which seems most improbable). Married in 1773, one daughter
Elizabeth Merritt b. 1774/75 d. 10 Nov 1868
Daniel Cornwall b about 1770 (Daniel Cornwall mentioned in William Merritt's will, see more information on Daniel in Gilbert S. Merritt's notes)

Thoughts on Carroll's Gedcom:
1. If Carroll's information on William's children  is correct it matches the will of William in that he has all of the children not mentioned in  William's will predecease him (These children being Elisha, Hackaliah, and Joseph) It is a little odd that their widows or heirs are not mentioned as it was common for Grandchildren of deceased sons to be mentioned.  Also in other genealogies these individuals are ascribed to different lines. I tend to think they

2. I know from my own research that there was a Samuel Merritt enumerated in the 1810 Census in the Town of Windham, though I have as yet to inquire into who he was.  The earliest settlers of Cornwallville, Greene County  were a Cornwall/Cornwell familly
Could it be that our Cornbury moved to Catskill in connection to his "Cousin"'s  by way of the older brothers of Gilbert as Given in this William Merritt genealogy????????
